TTT!

The Team TT championships in Palmdale. From Left (Susie, Susan, Me, Ginger)

Well, I wish I could tell you all how we did in the TTT, but I don't know! It took so long for the results to come out, that I had to leave to drive home...and so did my teammates so no one knows! I did notice that we were one of only 2 all-cat-4 teams in our division (140+) and I know we got passed by one very fast team, and Pam Schuster's all-cat-1 team was most certainly a lot faster than us...so I didn't fear missing a medal ceremony :-).

Anyway, the good news is that we did better in the real thing than in any of our practices! We worked together well, didn't crash each other out when a DOG ran right out in the road and chased us...nearly got run over by an obnoxious car passing a truck with cyclists on both sides of the road, and I led our team through all the corners at reasonable speed (although I dropped them coming out of the turns..ill have to work on that). We dropped our 4th teammate about 10 miles in, but she pulled hard and worked hard and dug deeper than I could have imagined, and I'm super proud of her. She also finished the race instead of dropping out when all the other dropped riders got back to the parking. Her logic was...what if one of you guys gets a flat and you need me to finish. What a teammie :-)!!! And although I can never call a 40K TT 'fun', the whole experience, well, it sort of was!

And someday I'll figure out how we did.

Ciao!

Visor and sunglasses? You must have been going really fast.

i know...lame..
It was just way too sunny in the desert for just the visor...I had a splitting headache! At least the glasses match the kit...

Okay, points back on the kit match.

It must be killing you not knowing the results.

it is!!!! I keep checking the website...but alas, nada.

Kim - sounds like you guys did great! My toe healed enough for me to TT today. I don't know what place I got, either, because I was too hungry to stick around, but I think I got 6th. Would have liked to do better, but did a really strong effort for my current fitness level and lack of schmancy TT equipment.

Chatterbox: Glad your toe is feeling better, and that's great you did a TT and got 6th! AFter only 3 TT attempts ever, I've decided I like the 20K ones better than the 40K....it's hard for me to suffer that long on my own! The team thing made it slightly better...

Still don't know how we did...

Dr-Nitro noticed the kit but failed to note that you were in a skinsuit. When you were going to Kern you did not have one; did you get a loaner?

Congrats on finishing .. let us know how you ladies fared.

I do like that visor glasses thing. Total fashion statement.

Great job on adapting to the dog and car issues thrown your way.

Just by looking at your team, the girl on the far left looks fast. Am I right?

Kimberly (aka. DrKim) said...

Chris: yeah, she is fast :-). She and I are pretty equally matched, although she can drop me on long hills....on this TT she was hurting when I wasn't, and vice versa...so it worked out well!

Cyclistrick: I did end up getting a skinsuit! The club was able to find one for me the DAY before Kern...and it came in handy here, too!

and everyone--still no results!

Somebody is losing sleep over the lack of results.

Kimberly (aka. DrKim) said...

well, honestly I thought I was losing sleep due to my irish setter waking up early...hmmmmm

I tell my students who have problems with morning classes that dogs make great alarm clocks since they don't have snooze bars.

You look to be the only one wearing
a TT helmet, so they must have been
working hard to keep your wheel!

I know what you mean about waiting.
I found out I won a TT the other night (Thurs.) but didn't get the
times until today, (Mon.). Bugged
me all weekend wondering how much I
won by, how'd I do against faster
catagories, etc...now I'll be able
to sleep tonight!

I guess I missed the skinsuit in OV's pix of Kern because I was too busy checking your recalc of the vectors ;-)

for those of you on the edge of your seats...still no TTT results!
